In my previous post on 10th July, I spoke about the imminent collapse of the airline, travel, and MICE industry. On 16th July, Major newspapers reported that the “Axe falls on Resorts World jobs”.

That very morning, I received a text.

OC: “Sir, I need help. My guy just lost his job at RWS. I need to manage his mental state while we are on duty.”

Me: “No problem. Give me his full name, email address and contact number. I will connect him to our jobs portal. There will always be help for our Guardsmen. “

Bloody Well done. 👏🏿

While my citizen soldiers sacrifice our time to defend the country, MNCs such as RWS decide to retrench their workers.

Most of these “redundancies” may lie in roles that deal directly with visitors, such as hotel house keeping workers, casino dealers and theme park ticketing agents.

BUT let me remind these integrated resorts, that the government had only just extended your exclusivity period till 2030, and that these 2 IRs must invest in more non-gaming facilities (up to $9billion), and add up to 5,000 jobs.

It’s not to RETRENCH, then EMPLOY.

But if you are ever caught in such a situation, you must realize by now that your job is NOT RECESSION PROOF.

And if you are in the same industry and you are spared (for now), your new job scope ain’t that revolutionary too. It’s a big delay of the inevitable.
