– 𝕄𝕖𝕡𝕙𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕡𝕙𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕤, 𝔻𝕣 𝔽𝕒𝕦𝕤𝕥𝕦𝕤

During this Covid-19 period, I’m actually quite sick of hearing people telling me that we are in a “New Norm”.

NO. NO. NO.

Let’s look at the following signs . . .

1. No cure to Covid-19, as of now.

2. The economy fall out has not reached its peak yet. Watch out for the imminent collapse to certain sectors such as the airline, travel industry and MICE.

3. Inevitable coming of a second wave in our local community.

4. More in the medical community telling us how adverse the initial spread of Covid-19 were, and how even patients who recover will have long-lasting health implications.

We are in fact still in the LONG process of STORMING. And this storming hasn’t finished.

However, even as I started this post on a sombre note, let me continue to share why I’m still darn positive that we will rise to the challenge, and ride out this storm.

Let’s take a look at In-Camp-Training for National Service Men.

I’m preparing my NS Battalion for operational duties in just a few hours time, and I’ve already seen so many changes albeit positive ones on training, safety and operational guidelines.

For example. . .

🏹How could we ever demarcate the different companies and platoons so that they don’t mingle with each other?
Yet, we did.

🚬 How could we ever limit the number of smokers in a yellow box?
Yet, we did.

🔊 How could we conduct training to so many soldiers, while keeping safe distancing measures?
Yet, we did.

😷 How could we swab so many of us efficiently to determine if we are all Covid-19 safe?
Yet, we did.

🗺 How could we plan and prepare ourselves mentally and physically so that we could deploy to the various sites, in spite of Circuit Breaker restrictions?
Yet, we did.

All these plans were not normal as the situation then, and even now, is still so fluid. It took extraordinary measures by ordinary citizens to make them happen and they are by no means, a norm.

So let’s embrace this stark reality and prepare ourselves well. We are definitely not out of the woods.

But when we UNITE as a society and continue to DREAM and INNOVATE, we will get there, and normalize soon.
